Backward Energy - Flux for Spherically Symmetric Scalar Waves
نویسندگان
چکیده
I consider spherically symmetric scalar waves of two types: explosive waves in an infinite medium generated by a spherically symmetric source, and implosive waves in which the medium is contained inside a spherically symmetric source. The explosive waves travel outward, the implosive waves inward. Although there are exceptional cases, in general there are, at any time, shells in which the energy-flux is opposed to the sense of propagation of the waves.

Non-singular Spherically Symmetric Solution in Einstein-scalar-tensor Gravity
A static spherically symmetric metric in Einstein-scalar-tensor gravity theory with a scalar field potential V [φ] is non-singular for all real values of the coordinates. It does not have a black hole event horizon and there is no essential singularity at the origin of coordinates. The weak energy condition ρφ > 0 fails to be satisfied for r . 1.3rS (where rS is the Schwarzschild radius) but th...
متن کاملSpherical scalar waves and gravity - red shift and backscattering
This article investigates the interaction of a spherically symmetric massless scalar field with a strong gravitational field. It focuses on the propagation of waves in regions outside any horizons. The two factors acting on the waves can be identified as a redshift and a backscattering. The influence of backscattering on the intensity of the outgoing radiation is studied and rigorous quantitati...
متن کاملOn 4D-Hawing Radiation from Effective Action
We determine the s-waves contribution of a scalar field to the four dimensional effective action for arbitrary spherically symmetric external gravitational fields. The result is applied to 4d-black holes and it is shown that the energy momentum tensor derived from the (nonlocal) effective action contains the Hawking radiation. The luminosity is close to the expected one in the s-channel. The en...

The vacuum energy of a scalar field in a spherically symmetric background field is considered. It is expressed through the Jost function of the corresponding scattering problem. The renormalization is discussed in detail and performed using the uniform asymptotic expansion of the Jost function. The method is demonstrated in an simple explicit example.
متن کاملPerturbation theory of spherically symmetric self-similar black holes
The theory of perturbations of spherically symmetric self-similar black holes is presented, in the Newman-Penrose formalism. It is shown that the wave equations for gravitational, electromagnetic, and scalar waves are separable, though not decoupled. A generalization of the Teukolsky equation is given. Monopole and dipole modes are treated. The Newman-Penrose wave equations governing polar and ...
